An arrangement of four Triceratium marylandicum from Piscatawy, USA. There looks to have been some movement in the diatoms. Described as fossil and very rare. Prepared by Arthur Charles Cole. Olympus BHB microscope using 450nm LED light. I selected one for further imaging. 63x Leitz Pl Apo 1.4 objective, oil immersion. Olympus Aplanat Achromat condenser, oil immersion, oblique lighting. 2.5x Nikon CF PL photoeyepiece. Monochrome converted Nikon d850 camera. 38 images stacked in Zerene (Pmax).

This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Symbolophora trinitatis Ehrenberg. Source of current name: Hasle, G.R. & Sims, P.A. (1986). The diatom genera Stellarima and Symbolophora with comments on the genus Actinoptychus. British Phycological Journal 21: 97-114.
