Saco River strew, JT Norman

Saco River strew, 10x Nikon Plan Apo NA 0.45 objective, brightfield
Neidium sacoense
Tabellaria flocculosa

A strew slide from Saco River, New Hampshire, USA. Prepared by John Thomas Norman. Nice array of species. Olympus BHB microscope using 450nm LED light. As well as the wider field of view, I imaged a couple using the 63x Leitz Pl Apo 1.4 objective, oil immersion. Olympus Aplanat Achromat condenser, oil immersion, oblique lighting. 2.5x Nikon CF PL photoeyepiece. Monochrome converted Nikon d850 camera. Images stacked in Zerene (Pmax). Quite low contrast – I’m assuming Canada Balsam for the mountant.

I’m reasonably happy with both of these identifications.
