River Colne, Oysters, stew, W Gatrell

River Colne, Oysters, 10x Nikon Plan Apo NA 0.45 objective, brightfield lighting
Gyrosigma sp. (G. fasciola ? )
Gyrosigma sp. (G. distortum ? )

A strew slide from River Colne oysters. Wide range of species present. Prepared by William Gatrell. Olympus BHB microscope using 450nm LED light. As well as the strew, I imaged a couple with a 63x Leitz Pl Apo 1.4 objective, oil immersion. Olympus Aplanat Achromat condenser, oil immersion, oblique lighting. 2.5x Nikon CF PL photoeyepiece. Monochrome converted Nikon d850 camera. Images stacked in Zerene (Pmax).

As for ID’s, one I think is Gyrosigma fasciola, and the other may be Gyrosigma distortum although I am less convinced about the second one.
