Oamaru strew, unknown maker

Oamaru strew, 10x Nikon Plan Apo NA 0.45 objective, brightfield
Resting spore ?
Coscinodiscus spiniferus

A strew slide from Oamaru, New Zealand. Nice array of species. No makers name. Olympus BHB microscope using 450nm LED light. As well as the strew, I imaged a couple with the 63x Leitz Pl Apo 1.4 objective, oil immersion. Olympus Aplanat Achromat condenser, oil immersion, oblique lighting. 2.5x Nikon CF PL photoeyepiece. Monochrome converted Nikon d850 camera. Image stacked in Zerene (Pmax).

First is what could be a diatom resting spore, although as I’ve not found a match for it yet, I am leaving that with a question mark for now. It was the only one like it I could see on the slide.

Second is a nice example of Coscinodiscus spiniferus (Grove & Sturt) Grove & Sturt 1888. Published in: Grunow, A. (1888). Referate. Grove, E. and Sturt, G.
