An arrangement of diatoms from Oamaru, New Zealand. Prepared by Ernest Wainwright and dated February 1951. One of the diatoms has gone on a wander, so I have prepared 2 images – one as it is now, and one which I have corrected by moving another similar diatom into the gap that was left behind.
Olympus BHB microscope using 450nm LED light. 4x Nikon Plan Apo NA 0.20 objective. Olympus Abbe condenser, brightfield lighting. 2.5x Nikon CF PL photoeyepiece. Monochrome converted Nikon d850 camera. Single image, no stacking.
