An arrangement of three Navicula mexicana (and a sponge spicule) from Tampa Bay, Florida, USA. Two of them look strangely asymmetric to me, but that could be how they are mounted (slightly tilted). Prepared by JA Long. Olympus BHB microscope using 450nm LED light. The middle one was imaged at a higher resolution using a 63x Leitz Pl Apo NA 1.4 objective, oil immersion. Olympus Aplanat Achromat condenser, oblique lighting, oil immersion. 2.5x Nikon CF PL photoeyepiece. Monochrome converted Nikon d850 camera. 49 images stacked in Zerene (Pmax).
