Kékkö, Hungary strew, 10x Nikon Plan Apo NA 0.45 objective, brightfield
Auliscus hauckii
Navicula sp., (Navicula praetexta ? )
Actinoptychus sp., aberrant, (A. vulgaris ? )

A strew from Kékkö, Hungary. Fossil marine material. Prepared by Laurence Miles. Olympus BHB microscope using 450nm LED light. The label says ‘Coscinodiscus and one Auliscus sculptus‘. I did not find the A. sculptus, but there was one Auliscus hauckii, so as well as the wide field image of the strew, I imaged this and 2 others using the 63x Leitz Pl Apo 1.40 objective, oil immersion. Olympus Aplanat Achromat condenser, oil immersion, oblique lighting. 2.5x Nikon CF PL photoeyepiece. Monochrome converted Nikon d850 camera. Images stacked in Zerene (Pmax).

Auliscus hauckii Pantocsek 1886. Published in: Pantocsek, J. (1886). Beiträge zur Kenntnis der Fossilen Bacillarien Ungarns. I. Theil Marine Bacillarien. pp. 1-74, 30 pls. Nagy-Tapolcsány: Buchdrucherei von Julius Platzko. Page 56, Plate 30, Figure 304 (as ‘Auliscus (confluens var.?) hauckii‘). An underside view with the rim towards towards the coverslip.

Based on the species from Kékkö mentioned in Pantocsek (1886) the other two may be Navicula praetexta (an underside view), and Actinoptychus vulgaris aberrant form. I’ll leave these two with question marks for now.
