An arrangement of three Eupodiscus argus from the North Sea. Also known as Tripodiscus argus and Aulacodiscus argus. I believe this was prepared by W Gardner as I have other slides by the same mounter, one with a name. Dated 1882. Olympus BHB microscope using 450nm LED light. 63x Leitz Pl Apo NA 1.40 objective, oil immersion. Olympus Aplanat Achromat condenser, oil immersion, brightfield lighting. 2.5x Nikon CF PL photoeyepiece. Monochrome converted Nikon d850 camera. 30 images stacked in Zerene (Pmax).
I have not been able to find out anything about W Gardner. Gardner and Co. were a manufacturer of optical equipment based in Glasgow from 1773 to around the time that these slides were made (they were Opticians to Her Majesty for Queen Victoria), but I currently have no evidence that these slides are linked with them.
