Two slides, each with two examples of Coscinodiscus excavatus from Conset, Barbados. One mounted in Styrax and the other in Hyrax. Prepared by JA Long. Olympus BHB microscope using 450nm LED light. 20x Nikon Plan Apo NA 0.65 objective. Olympus Aplanat Achromat condenser, oblique lighting. 2.5x Nikon CF PL photoeyepiece. Monochrome converted Nikon d850 camera. Images stacked in Zerene (Pmax) – 49 images for the Styrax stack and 53 images for the Hyrax stack. I denoised each stack, then sharpened them separately, before pasting them together and autocontrasting the entire image together. This demonstrates the higher contrast of Hyrax compared with Styrax.
