An arrangement of diatoms from the Bay of Naples. Prepared by Northern Biological Supplies. Mounted in Clearax. Olympus BHB microscope using 450nm LED light. 20x Nikon Plan Apo NA 0.65 objective. Olympus Aplanat Achromat condenser, oblique lighting. 2.5x Nikon CF PL photoeyepiece. Monochrome converted Nikon d850 camera. Two stacks of images prepared in Zerene (Pmax) and then pasted together in Photoshop. While preparing the images I noticed there is a shadow of where a diatom would have been at the top right of the arrangement. I went back and looked around the slide, and did find a diatom at the 11 o’clock position underneath the red ring. However it was not the right outline to match the shadow. All very mysterious….
