Bann Valley strew, Bernard Hartley

Bann Valley strew, 10x Nikon Plan Apo NA 0.45 objective, brightfield
Lindavia radiosa
Stephanodiscus rotula ?
Melosira normanii (single unstacked image)

A strew slide from Bally Culbann(?), Bann Valley, Northern Island. Fossil freshwater. Wide range of species present, similar to Toome Bridge (not surprising given the close geographic location). Partially cleaned. Mounted in Naphrax and dated April 1992. Olympus BHB microscope using 450nm LED light. I selected a few diatoms for further high resolution imaging. 63x Leitz Pl Apo 1.4 objective, oil immersion. Olympus Aplanat Achromat condenser, oil immersion, oblique lighting. 2.5x Nikon CF PL photoeyepiece. Monochrome converted Nikon d850 camera. Image stacks (when done) in Zerene using the Pmax algorithm.

Lindavia radiosa (synonym Cyclotella radiosa). 16 images stacked.

Stephanodiscus rotula (probably so leaving this with a question mark for now). 15 images stacked.

Melosira normanii (also known as Melosira undulata var. normanii). Single unstacked image.
