An arrangement of three Auliscus cælatus from Japan. No makers name, but I this looks to be by William Allott Firth based on hand writing and style. Olympus BHB microscope using 450nm LED light. 63x Leitz Pl Apo NA 1.4 objective, oil immersion. Olympus Aplanat Achromat condenser, oblique lighting, oil immersion. 2.5x Nikon CF PL photoeyepiece. Monochrome converted Nikon d850 camera. 41 images stacked in Zerene (Pmax).

Auliscus caelatus Bailey 1854. Published in: Bailey, J.W. (1854). Notes on new species and localities of microscopical organisms. Smithsonian Contributions to Knowledge 7(3): 1-15, pl. 1. Page 6, Plate 1, Figures 3,4. This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Auliscus sculptus (W.Smith) Brightwell. Source of synonymy: Brightwell, T. (1860).
