Two examples of Aulacodiscus subrimosus from Oamaru, New Zealand. No makers name, but based on the handwriting and style this is by JA long. Olympus BHB microscope using 450nm LED light. An odd darkening of the mountant around the two diatoms which showed up with the 450nm light (not seen this before). The main image is a composite of two stacks, one for each diatom. As such the spacing between them is slightly different than in the 10x objective image. 63x Leitz Pl Apo 1.4 objective, oil immersion. Olympus Aplanat Achromat condenser, oil immersion, brightfield lighting. 2.5x Nikon CF PL photoeyepiece. Monochrome converted Nikon d850 camera. Image stacks prepared in Zerene using Pmax (77 images for the larger one, and 100 for the smaller one, oddly). Individual stacks then pasted together in Photoshop.
