Two Aulacodiscus morenoensis from Moreno Y Canyon, California, USA. One is at an angle, the other has moved from its original position. Cretaceous material. Mounted in Naphrax and dated November 1962. Slide says Long, Fuge and Smith, “Moreno shale”, Plate 18, Figure 3. This refers to John A. Long, Dingley P. Fuge and James Smith, Diatoms of the Moreno Shale, Journal of Paleontology, Vol. 20, No. 2 (Mar., 1946), pp. 89-118 (36 pages). Prepared by ECP Bone. Olympus BHB microscope using 450nm LED light. Both were imaged individually using a 63x Leitz Pl Apo 1.4 objective, oil immersion. Olympus Aplanat Achromat condenser, oil immersion, oblique lighting. 2.5x Nikon CF PL photoeyepiece. Monochrome converted Nikon d850 camera. Images stacked in Zerene (Pmax).
