Aulacodiscus kittonii f. amherstii, 20x Nikon Plan Apo NA 0.65 objective, oblique lighting
Aulacodiscus kittonii f. amherstii

An array of Aulacodiscus kittonii f. amherstii in different orientations, from Amherst, Burma (now Kyaikkhami, Myanmar). Mountant has yellowed slightly, and has some issues with it. Prepared by JA Long. As well as the arrangement, I imaged one with the 63x Leitz Pl Apo 1.4 objective, oil immersion. Olympus Aplanat Achromat condenser, oil immersion, oblique lighting. 2.5x Nikon CF PL photoeyepiece. Monochrome converted Nikon d850 camera. 85 images stacked in Zerene (Pmax). It took some work to get the processes looking right on this one.

Now that I look at it, I remain to be convinced by the A. kittonii based name. While similar, the structure of the processes doesn’t look right to me.
