A ‘Test’ strew slide containing Amphipleura pellucida and others. Coverslip 0.16-0.17mm. Mounted in Styrax. Prepared by Eduard Thum, and distributed by C Baker, London. Olympus BHB microscope using 450nm LED light. As well as the wider field of view I imaged an Amphipleura pellucida using the 63x Leitz Pl Apo 1.4 objective, oil immersion. Olympus Aplanat Achromat condenser, oil immersion, oblique lighting. 2.5x Nikon CF PL photoeyepiece. Monochrome converted Nikon d850 camera. Single, unstacked image. Lighting came in perpendicular to the striae. Low contrast, which is not surprising for Styrax. 264nm striae spacing (37.9 striae per 10µm) as measured using ImageJ.
