Aulacodiscus margaritaceus var. debyi
Close up of process with 63x Leitz objective

Slide labelled as Aulacodiscus margaritaceus var. invictus debyi (not sure why ‘invictus‘?) from Oamaru, New Zealand. Single example on the slide with 5 processes. Prepared by Laurence Miles. Olympus BHB microscope using 450nm LED light. 20x Nikon Plan Apo NA 0.65 objective. Olympus Aplanat Achromat condenser, oblique lighting. 2.5x Nikon CF PL photoeyepiece. Monochrome converted Nikon d850 camera. 82 images stacked in Zerene (Pmax). Also did a stack of one of the processes with a 63x Leitz Pl Apo objective to try and show some of the complex looking internal structure.

Aulacodiscus margaritaceus var. debyi (Pantocsek) Rattray 1888. Published in: Rattray, J. (1888). A revision of the genus Aulacodiscus Ehrb. Journal of the Royal Microscopical Society 8(3): 337-382, 3 pls [V-VII]. Page 351. Not sure why it says ‘invictus‘ on the label as this looks to be Aulacodiscus margaritaceus var. debyi.
