An arrangement of three Stephanopyxis superba from Springfield, Barbados. Prepared by JA Long. Olympus BHB microscope using 450nm LED light. 50x Leitz Fluoreszenz NA 1.00 objective, water immersion. Olympus Aplanat Achromat condenser, oil immersion, oblique lighting. 2.5x Nikon CF PL photoeyepiece. Monochrome converted Nikon d850 camera. 55 images stacked in Zerene (Pmax). These were quite deep and I couldn’t get close enough with my 40x or 63x Leitz Pl Apo objectives. This one has more working distance, but image quality is not up to the Pl Apo ones.
