Two strew slides with material from ‘Moron’ railway cutting. Prepared by Steve Edgar. Mounted in Naphrax. Nice range of species, and also with sponge spicules. Olympus BHB microscope using 450nm LED light. 63x Leitz Pl Apo 1.4 objective, oil immersion. Olympus Aplanat Achromat condenser, oil immersion. 2.5x Nikon CF PL photoeyepiece. Monochrome converted Nikon d850 camera. Image stacks prepared in Zerene (Pmax).
Asterolampra sp. Oblique lighting. I’m not sure on this one, but it does share some similarities with A. marylandica. Looks very much like one on Schmidt’s Atlas – Plate 137, Fig 19. From Moron. Translation “A special kind, which I cannot quite identify [place]”. So, Schmidt couldn’t identify it either.
Auliscus sculptus (?). Tentative ID based on it being reported in the area (however a slide of A. sculptus I recently acquired has made me doubt this). Oblique lighting. Viewed from below.
Auliscus normanianus. Brightfield lighting. Viewed from below. Some sponge spicules underneath it, hence the shadows which can be seen in the image.
